If there is not an event going on where you live, and you are unable to make it to another one, consider organizing an event within your own community.
Some suggestions include:
* a demonstration in front of your local HUD office, or another prominent government office
* a teach-in at your school, church, or other group
* a press conference (media packet and talking points attached)
* a showing/discussiong of informational videos which could include: 'This is our Home' (www.advancementproject.org), Recover and Restore Video Advocacy Project public housing video- movingforwardgc.org
* fundraising/ awareness events
* connect housing struggles in New Orleans to housing struggles where you live/nationally- do research/connect with people you know about affordable housing, public housing, and gentrification where you live, as these connections are crucial to the sustainability of this movement.
